We have a reservation for 10 and there's still time to add more so please RSVP as soon as you can so we have a good headcount. They only take 3 reservations per day and we've had ours in for a few weeks now. There's also a $4 charge per bike to enter the park. After breakfast, we'll cruise the Volusia backroads as we make our way back to the Space Coast. Hope to see you! 'Til then, Y'all ride safe Monday, April 26. 2010Leesburg Ride Report and Upcoming Rides
It was a Leesburg weekend with Space Coast making the ride up Sat. and Sun. Sat was the busy day, only two bikes on the scheduled ride but lots of Cruisers in attendance for the noon photo op at the clock tower. Sun was the quieter day, two bikes again from Titusville but Ray and Donna had their spot staked out on Main St. both days and blazed the way for the rest of us. Lots of stuff to see and do but not so crowded you couldn't get around. All in all a good time and we even got out Sun before the severe storms moved in. 175 miles in the mileage program for those making the trip and yep, we know who you are!

What a beautiful day for a ride! Eight riders on six bikes showed for the run down to Fort Pierce and a visit to the US Navy UDT Seal Museum. It was a easy route along A1A down to the Treasure Coast. Three bikes showed in Titusville, three more in Merritt Island, Melbourne Beach was a quick break, no more riders but a good-sized group headed down the coast highway and before long we made the turn in Fort Pierce toward US-1 and a quick stop for fuel. We were early for lunch so it was decided we'd run over to the museum first then head to the lunch stop, Norris' Famous Place for Ribs. One small problem with that scenario, this Road Captain hadn't checked the opening time for he museum so lo and behold, it was off to the lunch stop after all as the museum wasn't open until noon. After a short wait at Norris's, a good lunch was enjoyed by the group and from there it was a quick trip back to the museum.
Little did we know this was our lucky day, we were fortunate to pick a day and time when a real American hero, Senior Chief Petty Officer Ret. James "Patches" Watson, a member of UDT class 21 and Seal Team 2 was on hand giving a private tour! We were asked if we wanted to join the group and we were treated to a real-life tour of museum artifacts and all the colorful stories that went along with them. If you get a chance, Google James "Patches" Watson, the "Point Man" and you'll see what I mean... He was there at a lot of the "hot" spots most of us have only read or heard about! What a rare opportunity and how fortunate we were to be there on that day at that time! Now, on to more serious matters, one of our own, Joe Miron (tan 'Wing w/ SeaBee plate) went in for open heart surgery at Holmes yesterday and this just in from spousal unit Linda, he's alert and doing very well. They repaired four blockages and his prognosis is very good but please keep Joe and Linda in your thoughts and prayers for a full, speedy recovery! No ride this weekend, the Road Captain has to work and do a little saddle research time for new routes so we'll be back again Sun. April 25th for a run over to the remainder of the Leesburg Bike Fest. Watch the site for details. "Till then, Be Safe! Steve Raisin' Kane SCRC FL Space Coast Chap. 122 First Officer Sunday, April 4. 2010Lake Panasoffkee Ride Report
Sat. 4-3, 11 bikes with 19 riders left McDonald's on US 1 in Titusville for the run over to Lake Panasoffkee in Sumter County. It was a beautiful Florida day, temps in the 80's plenty of sunshine, perfect riding conditions as we rounded Lake Monroe in Sanford and stair-stepped our way out the Lake County backroads. After a couple of stops for nature breaks and to stretch the legs, we headed out Hwy 44 toward the lake. Panasoffkee means "deep valley" but I think it should be "Lake you can't see" as we all strained for a peek as we dropped down the west shore to the lunch stop. We pulled in to Catfish Johnny's right at noon and they were all set for us. Everyone feasted on good vittles and enjoyed even better conversation. After the meal, we headed off to those Yalaha and one bonus for this trip, that backroad gem know as Yalaha Bakery. Nestled off Hwy 48 just east of Hwy 27, the German bakery serves up some awesome breads and pastries. We missed the music but the afternoon was still nice in the outdoor area next to the bakery. After the break, it was time to work our way back to Brevard county, there were some twisties (unfortunately for us traffic spoiled some of the fun) and another break in Seminole County before the group split off at Hwy 520 as all headed for the house. Thanks for coming along folks, the riding season is upon us again and what a great way to enjoy it! 252 miles travelled, a good time was had by all!
