Tuesday, July 13. 2010Sat 10-Jul Yalaha Bakery Ride report
Another Dry ride, no rain anywhere as we headed out 3 bikes 5 riders to Yalaha Bakery.
We got there before the big lunch crowd hit and all had the Smoked Brat with Roll, Kraut & potato salad. Then off to the goodie counter for take home desserts. Temps were in the steady low 90's all the way back hitting the twistys thru Mt. Plymouth then around south Sanford to Winter Springs and Ovideo then down thru Christmas and off to our homes. 185 miles in the books. Look for a breakfast ride this weekend. Another hot muggy summer day found 5 bikes - 7 riders heading out to Christmas to Geneva to around Lake Monroe to the Swamp House grill for some good eats, the back around the other side of Lake Monroe to Osteen to the Maytown -Osteen rd to Oak Hill then south on US 1 to Titusville, we could see some heavy rains in the area but managed to avoid them till south Titusville. I was 2 blocks from home when it hit us, didn't really get wet but there were some that decided to head out 50 to 95 to head south, they got cooled off quickly from the 90+ heat.

They'll give everyone the stops when they get there Sat morning and they'll have food and a 50/50 drawing at the end. $10 a bike, all proceeds go to Straw. The total length of the run should be about 125 miles. I'll be at their Clubhouse about 9:00 to sign up and get out at the 10:00 start. Directions - US1 to West on Canaveral Grooves Rd, Browns Court is the 1st left after the Railroad tracks. Bob Monday, June 7. 2010Vero Ride Report
Well, in case someone forgot to mention it to you, SUMMER'S HERE! Sunday started off just a slow lazy day cruising down the island. Ray was there for breakfast in his civvies, the ride out across the causeway was lots of scenery, twisty roads, and slow going but perfect for a Sunday morning! By the time we hit Melbourne Beach, the onshore sea breeze this Road Captain was expecting was nowhere to be found and by the time we hit Vero, it was downright Hot!
Harold mentioned the heat index was going to be in the 100's but I don't remember anything about feeling like a pork cracklin' sizzling in a skillet! 88 indicated on the Road Sofa temp gage but if you ask me it's defective 'cause it felt more like 130! According to Straw's ST, it was 93 so I think I'll go with his...Must've been all the water leakin' out of me that was creating a cooling effect around the sensor... Anyway, we rolled in to Bono's for the noon meal, slithered and sloshed our way in, and collapsed in the air conditioning. Lynn mentioned something about the name and I got my Linda's mixed up but we'll save that story for another day... Before long we were sucking down the sodas and tea and enjoying a nice meal. They always do us right at Bono's so that's why we keep coming back! The trip back north I was hoping just one of those black clouds would find us but it just wasn't meant to be, A hot ride north, Cruisers peelin' off all along the way, 165 miles in the record book and no rain...at least not for us. I haven't heard from Mike and Inga whether that shiny new Wing was christened or not. When we peeled off, it looked like they were heading right in to the eye of the storm... Well, 'till next time, y'all be safe! Steve Raisin' Kane SCRC Space Coast First Officer Wednesday, June 2. 2010This Week's Ride - Sunday June 6th - Vero
Meet up at McDonald's, US1 north of Hwy 50 in Titusville at 8:30 and we'll leave out at 9:00 for a run down to Vero. We'll figure out the route then but lunch will be at Bono's BBQ. Who knows, maybe we can find some rain...
Steve Sunday, May 30. 2010Sunday Ride to the Loop
We started out with four bikes and five riders and picked up one more on the way. Another great day to ride except for the small rain shower in Daytona which left us a little damp. The ride took us through the loop of Daytona and off to Betty's Cafe on route A1A in Ormond By The Sea where we enjoyed a fantastic lunch with good friends. After lunch it was off to Wind Walkers in Oak Hill then the race was on to beat the rain home. Thanks to the folks who came along. It was nice to see everyone.

Lunch will be somewhere along the route, Ray has a spot all picked out!

Sunday the Chapter ride took six bikes and 10 riders out west for some back road cruisin' Green Swamp style. Stretching from Clermont to the north, Polk City to the south, and Zephyrhills to the west, Green Swamp is a great area to scuff the tires! The day was perfect for cruisin' and the group pulled in to the Redwing Restaurant on Hwy 33 just south of Groveland and they were all set for us, check out the pics for some shots of their offerings! After a belly full of the good stuff the chef sent our way, we headed out across the swamp, eventually making our way back into Kissimmee/St. Cloud and points east. 235 miles on the day, hot but not brutal, Sunday was a good day to be out cruising the highways and byways of this great state!

Steve Monday, May 10. 2010Savannah Ride Report
The weekend of 5-7 to 5-9 turned out to be just right for the run up to Savannah. 17 Cruisers on 10 bikes made the run up. We left out on time at 8:30 from Hwy 46 McDonald's, the ride north was a mix of interstates and back roads, 95 north to 9A, old Hwy 17 in North Jax, and on up to the lunch stop, Mudcat Charlies, in Darien around 1:00. It was a welcome break and good food but best of all it set the stage for a short run north into Savannah. Once there everyone enjoyed a night and a day of pub crawls, history, tours and other tourist what nots. Sat. night was a group dinner at the Pirate House and back to the hotel for a nightcap. Sun. morning started cool and clear and made for perfect riding as we made our way back down Old 17 to Jax. After a quick stop in Yulee, a jump over to 95 and on down south to the lunch stop at Clarke's Fish Camp. The meal was dedicated to all the mothers on the ride since this was their day and it turned out to be a popular spot that day. One more quick stop in Edgewater for a bathroom break, then it was on to the house. 550 miles for the trip.
Next week we've got some errands and things to take care of so watch the website for the next one! "Till then, Ride Safe! Steve 'Raisin' Kane SCRC Space Coast 1st Sunday, May 2. 2010Next Week's Ride - Savannah - May 7, 8, 9

This ride will be a 275-mi. mixture of interstate and backroads and the lunch stop will be Mudcat Charlies in Darien, GA. We plan on being in Savannah by 4:00. Hope to see you then! Steve 'Raisin" Kane SCRC Florida Space Coast Chapter 122 First Officer Sunday, May 2. 2010Sunday May 2 - Sugarmill - Ride Report
Sunday May 2 was forecast to be the hottest to-date so the Space Coast chapter responded by booking tables at the Old Spanish Sugarmill Restaurant in Juan Ponce De Leon Springs State Park. The tables at the Sugarmill come complete with built-in electric grills and they serve up two flavors of all the five-grain and regular pancake batter you can handle. Add toppings like bananas, pecans, blueberries, bacon, sausage, ham, and what-not to the mix and there you have it! The batter was a-pourin', the flippers were a-flippin' and before you know it, there were 15 full-bellied Cruisers looking for a shade tree!
The sun was rising and so was the temp so the best course of action at that point was to head on back to the coast. The Volusia backroads make for some mighty fine cruising so on over to US1 it was. No Volusia run is complete without a stop at our favorite leather shop though and Doug and Julie at Windwalker's made everyone feel right at home as we browsed their collection of biker paraphanalia. It really was getting warm by then so it was time to head to the house. 130 miles on the day and a good time as well! 'Till next time, Y'all be safe!
