Wednesday, September 8. 2010This Week's Ride - Sunday 9-12
OK, this week let's run the River Road and US 1 south through Melbourne to Wabasso, then north to see our friends at the New England Eatery in Melbourne Beach for lunch. From there we'll run A1A and the Island north to the house. Weatherguessers say there's a fair chance for rain (40%) but it's early so we'll see. Meet up at the Shell Station in Cocoa at 9:00 and we'll head out at 9:30.
Steve Raisin' Kane SCRC FL Space Coast 122 First Officer Wednesday, September 8. 2010Last Week's Ride
Had a good ride this past week, 15 Cruisers showed up for the ride up to Racing's North Turn in Ponce Inlet. We took a run out throught the Wildlife Refuge on the way up, arrived ahead of the crowd and enjoyed some good food. The staff at the North Turn was really accomodating to the group (except we had to isolate the troublemakers) and the place is definately a keeper! After the meal we took a spin around the lighthouse and scooted back down US 1 to the Space Coast. Pretty hot but we managed to put 110 miles on the ol' odometers so way to go folks!

This ol' boy's sunburnt, sore, and jonesin' for a ride so meet up at McDonald's, US 1 in Titusville just north of Hwy 50 at 10:00 Sunday and we'll do a short one up through the Wildlife Refuge and US-1 to the world famous Racing's North Turn in Ponce Inlet.
http://www.racingsnorthturn.com/aboutus.html Should be a nice day unless one of these pesky storms ruins the weather guesser's forecast. Looks to be about 75 miles or so... Hope to see you there! Steve Raisin' Kane SCRC FL Space Coast Chapter 122 First Officer Monday, August 16. 2010Port St Lucie Ride Report
The morning runs down the coast can be a nice when the weather cooperates. Sat. 13 of us made the trip out of Cocoa and down the beach route to Port St Lucie where we checked out Club Med - Sandpiper and had a nice meal at the St. Lucie Draft House. A cooling shower came by as we ate so we used the front of the place to gear up for the run north. Short-lived and we were out of the rain by the time we hit the interstate so the first rest area was a chance to strip back to street clothes. Good thing too, I saw a Facebook post by 2nd officer Bob saying something about triple-digit temps on the interstate coming home? Glad I didn't look at my temp gage! It was a real scorcher for sure! Back in Brevard by 3:00, 195 miles on the day.
Some news to pass on about our riding buddies Rose and Alec, (red '98 Wing). Please keep Alec in your thoughts and prayers as he recuperates from knee replacement surgery. Alec, get healed and we'll see you guys back in action soon! We won't be posting anything for the next two weeks, lots to do around the home front so hope by the time we hit the road again this heat wave will be history. Makes for some brutal riding... Till next time, Y'all be safe! Steve Raisin' Kane SCRC FL Space Coast 122 First Officer Monday, August 9. 2010This Week's Ride - Sat. Aug 14th - Port St. Lucie

Till then, Y'all be safe! Steve Raisin' Kane SCRC Space Coast 1st Sunday, August 8. 2010Ride Report - Breakfast at Dottie's
Reservations for 12 - 15, six riders, 80% chance we were gonna get wet. We're a riding club though so we rolled the dice and headed down. Ride down was smooth sailing, Dottie's good as always. One cager showed, great to see you Ms. Cathy! Get better and get back soon! Rain for the Rain Man and the missus on the way to St Cloud. Not sure about the rest, the Entrepreneur had a short run but the Straw Man was hangin' in Melbourne and the clouds were building. I-95 north spit a bit around Viera but dry the rest of the way for the Road Captain and the missus. Short day, 65 miles.
Be Safe! Steve Thursday, August 5. 2010This Week's Ride - Sun. Aug 8th - Breakfast in Palm Bay
Join up at the Shell Station, I-95 and 520 in Cocoa at 7:30 and we'll head out at 7:45 for a breakfast run to Dotties in Palm Bay. If you want to meet up at Dottie's, we should be there around 8:45 or so. Afterward, We'll run the Wabasso Loop and back up the coast to the house!
Hope to see you there! Steve Raisin' Kane SCRC FL Space Coast Chapter 122 First Officer Monday, August 2. 2010Sun. Aug 1st Ride Report
Folks say it's just too darn hot to ride in Florida in the summer. Well, I'm here to tell you, Sun. was forecast to beat records! You know what though?? At 70 mph, it's really pretty nice (at least at 9:00 am anyway)!
A contingent of the Space Coast chapter, nine in all, hooked up Sun. for a bite of breakfast at Whistle Junction buffet in Titusville (great vittles, good service) and by 9:30 were wingin' out the back roads to 520 and points north. Bob says he saw it but this Road Captain missed the big, bold "Road Closed" and we headed out Taylor Creek Rd. anyway. True to it's word, the one-lane bridge was undergoing some renovation and by all appearances, the road was closed. I was all set to swing back around to 520, head on over to 50 and continue north but wait...what's that?? It's the Scout! Yep! Straw decided he'd run up ahead and have a look, he saw an opening, and before long six tourer/cruisers were runnin' the dirt! We made it through the ditch that used to be a bridge and before long were headed out Fort Christmas way enjoying the twisties! Good eyes Dude! We wound our way around the backroads to Geneva for fuel and liquid refreshments, the planned end of the day, from here it was back to the Space Coast to miss the heat. After some discussion though, half decided it wasn't time to pack it in and decided to make their way to Oak Hill for a visit with Doug and Julie at Windwalkers while the rest headed for the house. 10 minutes up the interstate to 5A, north on US1 and we were enjoying a good visit at our favorite leather shop! The entrepreneur finished his business and we pulled out in the afternoon heat for a short trip out the Wildlife Refuge to Crackerjack's, the new restaurant at the Titusville Pier. It looked like a good spot for a refreshement stop, and so it was! As we walked out to the bikes rubbin' our bellies, the heat was kickin' and the clouds were building so it really was time to call it and head for the house. 115 miles on the day, no heat stroke, and a good time was had by all! Last word I got Rain Man made it to St. Cloud high and dry and the weather to the south looked good as well so here's hopin no waterspots on the chrome for the rest! Great people, great ride, 'till next time, Y'all be safe! Steve Rasin' Kane SCRC Space Coast First Officer Wednesday, July 28. 2010This Week's Ride - Sun. Aug 1st - Breakfast and Up County Run
Barnhill's for breakfast in Orange City was the plan for this week but it's not gonna happen because they're out of business. Instead, let's meet up at the Whistle Junction buffet in Titusville (CR405 next to Staples and Target) at 8:00 for breakfast and afterward we'll take a run out the backroads and head back to the house before the daytime heat gets us.
'Till then Y'all be safe! Steve Raisin' Kane Monday, July 26. 2010Sun. July 25th - Ray and Donna's
Seven riders made the run over to Ray and Donna Thibault's in St. Cloud this past weekend. 2nd Officer Bob and friend Fred were there for the meet-up and couldn't make the trip over but the Melbourne and Viera contingents pulled up and after a quick shot of coffee we were headed west...or sort of...
After a quick roadside stop where Harold showed his skills retrieving a pair of gloves that mysteriously launched into the Cocoa morning we were enjoying the ride across the cow country of Deseret Ranch along Nova Rd. on one of those lazy Sunday morning morning cruises. It was really cool to see a certain tan 'Wing on the road again too! Great to have you and Linda back Joe! Before long we pulled in to the Thibault hacienda where Grill Master Ray took care of the group's growlies with some great hamburgers and hotdogs and Donna kept everyone going with all the fixin's! Good weather, old friends, great BBQ, wonderful day you guys, we'll really have to do that again sometime! Summer's are hot here and it's tough to spend all day out riding so a meetup like Thibault's in St. Cloud was just what the Dr. ordered! No rain except one pesky little cloud that washed the dust off the bikes, twice! Thanks again guys for hosting the group and it was surely a fun way to spend a Florida Sunday! 100 miles on the day and a one-finger salute from this Road Captain to a bunch of yahoos on sportbikes running Nova Rd on the trip back. Next time how about showing others a little courtesy, eh? Monday, July 19. 2010This Week's Ride - Sun. July 25th - Thibault's in St Cloud
Hey y'all, let's hook up at the Shell, I-95 and CR520 in Cocoa Sun. July 25th for a quick trip over to Ray and Donna's for a picnic/BBQ. Meet at 9:30 and we'll head out at 10:00. All you need to bring is some shorts to change into if you want, they'll have all the fixin's!
Hope we see you there! Steve "I think it's my back..." Kane Monday, June 7. 2010Vero Ride Report
Well, in case someone forgot to mention it to you, SUMMER'S HERE! Sunday started off just a slow lazy day cruising down the island. Ray was there for breakfast in his civvies, the ride out across the causeway was lots of scenery, twisty roads, and slow going but perfect for a Sunday morning! By the time we hit Melbourne Beach, the onshore sea breeze this Road Captain was expecting was nowhere to be found and by the time we hit Vero, it was downright Hot!
Harold mentioned the heat index was going to be in the 100's but I don't remember anything about feeling like a pork cracklin' sizzling in a skillet! 88 indicated on the Road Sofa temp gage but if you ask me it's defective 'cause it felt more like 130! According to Straw's ST, it was 93 so I think I'll go with his...Must've been all the water leakin' out of me that was creating a cooling effect around the sensor... Anyway, we rolled in to Bono's for the noon meal, slithered and sloshed our way in, and collapsed in the air conditioning. Lynn mentioned something about the name and I got my Linda's mixed up but we'll save that story for another day... Before long we were sucking down the sodas and tea and enjoying a nice meal. They always do us right at Bono's so that's why we keep coming back! The trip back north I was hoping just one of those black clouds would find us but it just wasn't meant to be, A hot ride north, Cruisers peelin' off all along the way, 165 miles in the record book and no rain...at least not for us. I haven't heard from Mike and Inga whether that shiny new Wing was christened or not. When we peeled off, it looked like they were heading right in to the eye of the storm... Well, 'till next time, y'all be safe! Steve Raisin' Kane SCRC Space Coast First Officer Wednesday, June 2. 2010This Week's Ride - Sunday June 6th - Vero
Meet up at McDonald's, US1 north of Hwy 50 in Titusville at 8:30 and we'll leave out at 9:00 for a run down to Vero. We'll figure out the route then but lunch will be at Bono's BBQ. Who knows, maybe we can find some rain...
Steve Sunday, May 30. 2010Sunday Ride to the Loop
We started out with four bikes and five riders and picked up one more on the way. Another great day to ride except for the small rain shower in Daytona which left us a little damp. The ride took us through the loop of Daytona and off to Betty's Cafe on route A1A in Ormond By The Sea where we enjoyed a fantastic lunch with good friends. After lunch it was off to Wind Walkers in Oak Hill then the race was on to beat the rain home. Thanks to the folks who came along. It was nice to see everyone.
Ray Tuesday, May 25. 2010This Week's Ride - Sunday May 30th - The Daytona Loop
We're out of town this weekend but Ray says Donna wants to ride so everybody meet up at McDonald's in Titusville on US 1 north of Hwy 50 Sunday May 30th at 8:00 leaving out at 8:30 and he'll lead the run around the world famous Daytona Loop! Lunch will be somewhere along the route, Ray has a spot all picked out!
